About TPP Alberta
The Tracked Prescription Program (TPP) Alberta uses data to optimize safe patient care. Since 1986, we have monitored the use of prescription drugs prone to misuse.
Our mandate is to:
Monitor prescribing, dispensing and utilization practices regarding TPP-targeted medications.
Provide timely and relevant information on TPP-targeted medications to prescribers, dispensers, consumers, regulatory bodies, Member Organizations and stakeholders.
Work with Member Organizations and stakeholders to enable system-level change, to ensure appropriate use of targeted medications.
Ensure efficient and effective functioning of TPP Alberta.
TPP Alberta Partners & Steering Committee members
Funded primarily by the provincial government, TPP Alberta is a partnership administered by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta and led by a Steering Committee of healthcare organizations from across the province, each represented by members with expertise in prescribing.

The Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) is responsible for regulating pharmacists and ensuring Albertans received high-quality pharmacy care.
Monty Stanowich
Monty graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Alberta in 1998 and after working as a clinical pharmacist and pharmacy manager for a number of years, joined the ACP in 2012. His role as Policy Lead and Compliance Officer includes matters of population health, including pharmacy’s role in stewardship of opioids and drugs that can be misused.

Alberta Health oversees the strategic direction for health in the province, including advising government on health policy, legislation and health system performance, and providing oversight and accountability across the health system.
Steve Omijeh
Steve is a registered pharmacist with a background in management consulting, government and health care. His is currently Alberta Health’s Pharmaceutical Policy Consultant and specializes in program management for government health initiatives and projects.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) provides health services, programs and care at more than 900 facilities across the province, including hospitals, clinics, continuing care facilities and community health sites.

The Alberta Medical Association (AMA) is a provincial medical organization comprised of physician, resident physician and medical student members. The AMA provides a strong, united voice for the medical profession on a provincial and national level.
Karina Guy
Karina Guy brings over 25 years of experience as a health care system transformation executive. Karina holds a post-master’s diploma in Applied Health Informatics from Johns Hopkins University, School of Nursing and a master’s degree in Archival and Information Studies from the University of British Columbia. Her career has focused on influencing health system strategy, policy and operations to assist in the modernization of Canada’s health care systems within the publicly funded framework.

The Alberta Pharmacists’ Association (RxA) supports and optimizes the health of Albertans by promoting the value of pharmacists, advocating for the pharmacy profession and inspiring excellence and innovation in pharmacist practice.
Matt Tachuk
Matt earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Alberta in 2000 and in 2021 completed his MBA. He practised as a pharmacist in both communities and long-term care before joining the RxA in 2012, and has been the Director of Pharmacy Practice since 2018.

The Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (ABVMA) regulates the practice of veterinary medicine in Alberta, providing leadership in animal health and welfare, and ensuring all veterinarians and veterinary technologists in the province provide quality care.
Dr. Margitta Dziwenka
Dr. Dziwenka has been a practising veterinarian for over 25 years as well as a Board-Certified Toxicologist. Dr. Dziwenka has over 20 years of experience in regulatory and governance in self-regulated professions and joined the ABVMA as Deputy Registrar in February of 2024.

The College of Dental Surgeons of Alberta (CDSA) registers dentists practising in Alberta, and ensures the dental health of patients is advanced through safe, high-quality, ethical dental services.

The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) is the province’s regulator of physicians and physician assistants, issuing practice permits and ensuring these professionals are competent and qualified to provide the best care possible to their patients.
Dr. Cliff Lindeman
Dr. Cliff Lindeman is the Program Manager for Prescribing Analytics and the Tracked Prescription Program (TPP) Alberta at the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). He holds a PhD in Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine from the University of Alberta and an MPH in Gerontology from Lakehead University. His work focuses on physical activity in family medicine, health data analytics and opioid prescribing practices.
Ed Jess
Ed graduated from the University of Alberta in 1990, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Statistics. He has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, and joined CPSA in 2012 as the Director of Prescribing & Analytics in Continuing Competence. Ed is currently CPSA’s Chief Innovation Officer, overseeing the Analytics, Innovation & Research department.
Katie Kjelland
Katie Kjelland is the pharmacist for the Analytics, Innovation, and Research department at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). As a licensed prescribing pharmacist in Alberta and licensed to practice in British Columbia, she is focused on optimizing the health of Albertans through seamless integration of care between CPSA and other healthcare organizations.

The College of Podiatric Physicians of Alberta (CPPA) governs the practice of podiatric medicine in Alberta by ensuring competency and quality of care from podiatric physicians.

The College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) regulates the profession of nursing in Alberta, protecting the public’s health and wellness by ensuring licensed nurses provide safe and competent care.
Dr. Marcie Smigorowsky
A PhD-prepared nurse practitioner (NP), Dr. Smigorowsky has been a registered nurse for over 36 years, 19 of those as an NP, and maintains a clinical cardiology practice. She is also the Policy and Practice Consultant for CRNA, leading NP-specific policy, standards and guidelines while also completing practice consultations.

The Nurse Practitioner Association of Alberta (NPAA) works to raise awareness of the nurse practitioner (NP) role in the health system, while supporting their members by removing barriers to practice and ensuring every Albertan has access to expert NP care.
Linda Wonitoway
Linda has been a Family/All Ages Nurse Practitioner since 2009. She previously worked at Westgrove Medical from 2009-2020 and Westview Women's Health Clinic from 2009-2020. Since 2011, she has worked at Alexis Nakota Sioux First Nation (ANSN), providing primary care services to nation members.
